The Slieve Bloom 3 and 6 day
trail explores the
undiscovered beauty of the Slieve Bloom Mountains, found in the heart of Ireland. The
Slieve Bloom Trail, renowned for its natural beauty and friendly people, is characterised
by a web of rivers, waterfalls, valleys, glens, woodlands and mountains.
This whole area of upland moorland and forested glens has been declared an Environmental
Park for recreation and conservation. It is a place of quiet country roads, a haven of
peace and relaxation for those seeking a holiday in an unspoilt environment.
Climb high into the mountains, gallop through valleys and glens, trot through green
forests, past bogland strewn with bog cotton and heather, cross streams and rivers to
arrive at the magnificent sights of Glendine Gap, Glenletter Valley and The Ridge of
Capard. Experience these mist-filled amphitheatres where time has remained constant for
centuries.
No other trail ride offers such varied terrain; wide open boglands; verdant forest paths;
disused roadways dating back to pre-famine Ireland; and one of Ireland's most beautiful
mountain ranges. Enjoy the feeling of splendid isolation and the gift of total freedom is
yours for the taking.
Nestling at the foot of the Slieve Blooms, the village of Mountrath is your base for the
week where you will enjoy traditional Irish music, song and dance.
The Slieve Bloom Trail offers you the rider the opportunity to experience Irish culture at
its best, quality country house accommodation, excellent horses, fine food, the enjoyment
of an unspoilt environment viewed from horseback and most importantly you are guaranteed
to have the 'craic' - the Irish equivalent of 'joie de vivre', symbolising the Irish
people's determination to turn an everyday occasion into an event.
Whether an individual or part of a group, you will have an unforgettable holiday with lots
of adventure, fun and relaxation. Nothing has been forgotten to ensure that this is the
best week of your horse riding life.

"Thanks Margaret, for such an enjoyable horse back
tour of a most beautiful portion of Ireland. It is a trip I will never
forget! As our hostess and guide you were charming, professional and just
plain FUN to be with. Your personality and charm will carry your business
far".
